RawPrune replaces the JPEG+RAW pairs in your Photos library with a single space-saving copy — HEIC by default, JPEG if you prefer — at full quality for your favorites and downscaled for the rest, and always backs up the originals first.

Your originals aren’t thrown away. Before a pair is replaced, RawPrune copies the originals to a backup folder you choose — the RAW included — and the replaced items go to Recently Deleted, so nothing is lost by accident.

Scans your Photos library for the JPEG+RAW pairs eating your storage. Filter by capture date and favorite so you review exactly what you want.
Full quality where it matters
Favorites keep a full-quality copy and their RAW is backed up; every other shot comes back downscaled. Big savings without losing the keepers.
Uses Photos’ own export
RawPrune renders nothing itself. Photos exports the images — HEIC by default, JPEG if you prefer it, downscaled where you want it — and RawPrune backs up the originals and swaps the pair back in, verbatim.
Keeps your originals safe
Before anything is replaced, the originals are copied to a backup folder you choose, with a JSON sidecar recording exactly what happened.
Preserves what matters
Capture date, location, the favorite flag, and album membership all carry over to the replacement.
Crash-safe & non-destructive
Replacements are staged atomically and originals go to Recently Deleted. If it’s interrupted, RawPrune offers to finish the cleanup on next launch.

Everything runs on your Mac, against your own library. No accounts, no tracking, nothing ever leaves your device.
